The simple answer is – the more, the better.

The most important aspect of designing and developing a website is the translation of the client’s ideas into the website itself. Thus, the more information that a client can provide with respect to these ideas, the better the end results.

I once read that 80% of web design companies do not offer hosting services. We decided early on to offer hosting services to our clients because there are certain advantages when your web design company is your host too.

Last Friday I attended an after-work mixer for small business owners. While making my rounds, the president of a local company expressed concern to me about spending money on his website in this slow economy. He was unsure as to whether improving or maintaining the website would lead to more customers for his service-oriented business. (I was happy to give my advice, despite the fact that this particular small business owner was a competitor’s client).
